How to match the solution to the project
Start from biology and water, not from a supplier catalogue
The equipment list for a shrimp farm is an output, not an input. Density target, cycle length, survival assumption and water exchange strategy determine oxygen demand, which determines aeration horsepower, which determines electrical infrastructure and generator backup. When a project starts from a vendor's package, those dependencies are hidden and the first budget revision usually arrives after the civil works are already committed.

- Cycles per year and stocking density per m² or m³
- Salinity, temperature range and source water quality
- Exchange rate strategy: flow-through, limited exchange or biofloc
Split the scope so quotes become comparable
Shrimp projects mix civil works, mechanical equipment, electrical work and biology. Suppliers quote whichever slice they sell. Splitting your RFQ into clear packages — earthworks and liners, water intake and treatment, aeration and power, feeding and monitoring, harvest and cold chain — lets you compare like with like and lets specialist suppliers bid on what they actually do well.
Plan the nursery and PL supply in the same brief
Post-larvae availability, genetics, health status and transport distance shape the whole schedule. Including hatchery or nursery scope in the initial RFQ avoids the common situation where a completed farm waits on a PL source that cannot deliver the required volume on the required date.
What drives the price
Kilograms per cycle drive aeration, pumping and feed handling more than pond count does.
Earthen, partially lined and fully lined ponds have very different civil, liner and maintenance costs.
Paddlewheel, injector or diffused aeration choices change both capital cost and lifetime energy cost.
Seawater intake, brackish wells or artificial salinity each carry different pumping, filtration and disinfection scope.
Weak or absent grids add generator, ATS and fuel storage cost, plus a real risk premium for oxygen loss.
Greenhouses, footbaths, bird netting, separated nursery lines and effluent treatment raise capital cost and reduce disease loss.
Ice, chill tanks, blast freezing and cold storage are often excluded from early budgets and added late at premium cost.
Landed cost, commissioning travel and local labour can move a quoted equipment price materially.
