What is FCR in aquaculture?
Feed conversion ratio (FCR) is kilograms of feed given per kilogram of biomass gained: FCR = total feed ÷ (final biomass − initial biomass). Lower is better. Compare it with your own past cycles and your feed supplier's feeding table for the same species, size and system — not with a universal number.
- How do you calculate FCR in shrimp farming?
- Divide total feed given by the weight the shrimp gained: FCR = feed used (kg) ÷ (harvest biomass − stocked biomass) (kg). Count all feed delivered to the water, and count the biomass you stocked, not just the animals that survived.
