How this estimate is calculated
Shrimp Dissolved Oxygen Risk Planner · calculation version 0.9.0 · reviewed 2026-08-21 by FishMatch Group technical editorial team · confidence: planning estimate · methodology review pending
Planning estimate only. Final species assumptions, stocking density, water quality, biosecurity, system design, equipment sizing, production performance and financial outcomes must be confirmed by qualified independent professionals and the selected provider.
Purpose
Most shrimp losses happen at night, when photosynthesis stops and respiration peaks. This planner is an operational screening tool, not a biological prediction: it compares your installed aeration against an indicative oxygen demand derived from biomass, temperature, salinity and feeding rate, and returns a low, medium or high risk indication with the checks and backup considerations that go with it.
How it was calculated

Limitations
- This tool has not yet passed the documented-methodology review. Treat every output as an unverified planning estimate.
- This is an operational screening indication built from planning heuristics — it is not a biological prediction and cannot replace continuous in-pond DO monitoring.
- Oxygen demand and saturation depend on species, life stage, salinity, temperature, algal density, sediment condition and organic load; single 'ideal' values do not transfer between farms.
- Aerator SAE figures from suppliers are measured in clean water at standard conditions. Field transfer in a stocked pond is materially lower.
- Never plan a farm without a pre-dawn DO measurement routine, low-DO alarms and a tested emergency response.
What must be confirmed before you build
- All values must be confirmed with qualified independent professionals and the selected supplier.

Review every value above, correct anything that does not match your site, then transfer the reviewed figures into a structured RFQ. Nothing is sent to any supplier until you approve it. Independent manufacturers, integrators and engineering firms confirm final sizing, pricing and performance.
