For projects from USD 250,000
How to submit an aquaculture RFQ and how we review the responses
Short answer: you send one written project request. Our team checks it, asks about anything missing, contacts suitable suppliers for you and sends them the same specification. When responses come back, we line them up on the same scope, terms and open questions and present them to you through FishMatch. You never have to deal with each supplier separately, and you decide what happens next.
Part 1 — Submitting your RFQ
- 01
Describe the project
Species, farming system, yearly production target, country and site status, water source and power. Rough figures are fine — say which ones are estimates.
- 02
Set the scope and budget
What you need quoted (full turnkey, a system, or specific equipment), your budget range, funding status and timeline. Requests from about USD 250,000 can be sent to suppliers.
- 03
Submit one request
Use the project request form. Your details stay private: suppliers see the specification, not your name, company or contact details.
- 04
Our team reviews it
A person reads every request. We aim to reply within one business day, usually with a few questions to close gaps before any supplier is approached.
- 05
We contact suitable suppliers for you
Once the specification is clear, we send the same scope to suppliers that fit the project. All supplier contact runs through FishMatch.
Not sure of your numbers yet? Start with the RFQ checklist or the free calculators — several can open a request already filled in with your results.
Part 2 — How FishMatch reviews the responses
Supplier quotes for the same project often differ in what they include. Before anything reaches you, we check each response against your specification:
| What we check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Scope | Is everything you asked for included — or are key items like installation, water treatment or backup power left out? |
| Capacity and design basis | Is the quote sized for your production target, species and water conditions, or for a different assumption? |
| Price basis | Delivery terms, currency, taxes and what is excluded, so totals can be compared fairly. |
| Delivery and installation | Stated lead time, installation and commissioning responsibilities, and site work left to you. |
| Warranty and after-sales | Warranty length and coverage, spare parts, training and local service options. |
| Open questions | Anything unclear or missing is listed and raised with the supplier before you decide. |
You then receive the comparable responses with our notes on differences and open questions. If a quote leaves something out, we go back to the supplier for clarification rather than guessing. For the detailed scoring method, see how to compare RAS quotations.
Technical checklist for your RFQ
Short answer: a request can be quoted on the same basis when it states the species, yearly tonnage, system type, water source and quality, power supply, site status, the scope to be quoted, budget range and timeline — and marks which figures are estimates.
- Production basis: species, target harvest size, tonnes per year, number of cycles.
- Design figures: peak water temperature, stocking density, feed rate, oxygen demand and water exchange or recirculation rate — with the calculator results attached.
- Site: country, land or sea area, water source and test results, grid power and backup needs, permits status.
- Scope: turnkey, a full system or named equipment; what is excluded (civil works, installation, training).
- Commercial: budget range, currency, delivery terms wanted, funding status and decision date.
- Comparison: ask every supplier to state power draw at full load, lead time, warranty and spare-parts plan in writing.
Sources and stated assumptions
- Source: FishMatch Group's own request review process, described on this page. No external market data is used here.
- Assumption: requests are sent to suppliers only from about USD 250,000 of project scope.
- Assumption: our team aims to reply within one business day; supplier quoting time is not promised.
- Design figures should come from the calculators (each lists its own sources and starting values) or your designer.

What we do not do
- We do not pass your request to an open marketplace or give you a list of supplier contacts.
- We do not promise how fast suppliers will quote or that a quote will be accepted.
- We do not certify equipment, guarantee farm performance or lend money.
- Every request is read by a person; nothing is sent to suppliers automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Do I contact the suppliers myself?
No. FishMatch contacts suitable suppliers for you and presents their responses. You do not need to manage each supplier separately, and suppliers do not receive your contact details from us.
How long does it take?
We aim to send a first reply from our team within one business day. How long suppliers take to quote depends on the project and the supplier, so we do not promise a quote date.
What if my project is below USD 250,000?
Requests below about USD 250,000 are not sent to suppliers, but you can still use the free calculators, planners and guides to prepare your project.
Does FishMatch choose the supplier for me?
No. We line up the responses on the same basis and point out differences and open questions; the decision stays with you.
Ready to send your project?
