In tropical shrimp ponds aeration has to do two jobs: keep dissolved oxygen above 4 mg/L through the pre-dawn crash, and move sludge to the centre of the pond so it can be flushed. That means paddlewheels rated for continuous duty (typically 2 HP per 400–600 kg of biomass at harvest), positioned to create a coherent circular current, plus fine-bubble bottom diffusers under the feeding tray zones.
Get the sizing or placement wrong and your DO collapses at 4 a.m. exactly when respiration peaks — and you lose the crop in a single night.
