Purpose
Energy is usually the second-largest operating cost on an intensive shrimp farm and the first place a modernisation project finds savings. This tool adds up installed load across aeration, pumping, oxygen generation, automatic feeding, water treatment, lighting and monitoring, applies realistic run hours to each, and reports kWh per day, per cycle and per year alongside energy cost per kilogram harvested.

Limitations

- Installed load × run hours is a planning estimate. Motors rarely draw nameplate power continuously, so measured consumption is often 10–20% lower than this model.
- Aeration and pumping normally account for the large majority of shrimp farm electricity — target those two before anything else in an efficiency project.
- Energy cost per kg only makes sense alongside a stated harvest assumption; a bad cycle raises energy per kg without any change in equipment.
- Indicative planning outputs, not a metered audit and not a guarantee of savings from any specific equipment package.
