How this estimate is calculated
Aquaculture Cost Pressure Calculator · calculation version 0.9.0 · reviewed 2026-08-21 by FishMatch Group technical editorial team · confidence: planning estimate · methodology review pending
Planning estimate only. Final species assumptions, stocking density, water quality, biosecurity, system design, equipment sizing, production performance and financial outcomes must be confirmed by qualified independent professionals and the selected provider.
Purpose
When farm-gate prices fall, the controllable variable is cost per kilogram produced. This tool splits your production cost into feed, energy, labour and other operating cost, then compares that baseline with a scenario in which feed conversion, energy consumption, labour hours and survival improve. It returns the indicative cost per kilogram in both cases and the annual difference between them, which is the budget a modernization programme has to justify. It is decision-support modelling, not a promise: no equipment supplier can guarantee an FCR, a survival rate or an energy saving.

Limitations
- This tool has not yet passed the documented-methodology review. Treat every output as an unverified planning estimate.
- This is decision-support modelling based on values you enter. It is not a forecast, a guarantee or an engineering study.
- FCR, survival and energy consumption are biological and operational outcomes. Equipment can improve control, accuracy and visibility, but no supplier can contractually guarantee them.
- Use measured figures from your own cycles. Published benchmarks tend to overstate the achievable improvement.
- Survival is modelled as more saleable kilograms from the same stocking, which slightly understates the true benefit because it ignores the feed and energy already invested in animals that are lost.
- The annual difference shown is a budget indication for a modernization programme, before financing cost, maintenance and downtime.
- FishMatch Group is supplier-neutral, does not sell equipment and does not provide nutritional or veterinary advice.
What must be confirmed before you build

Review every value above, correct anything that does not match your site, then transfer the reviewed figures into a structured RFQ. Nothing is sent to any supplier until you approve it. Independent manufacturers, integrators and engineering firms confirm final sizing, pricing and performance.
