How this estimate is calculated
Hatchery Capacity Calculator · calculation version 0.9.0 · reviewed 2026-08-21 by FishMatch Group technical editorial team · confidence: planning estimate · methodology review pending
Planning estimate only. Final species assumptions, stocking density, water quality, biosecurity, system design, equipment sizing, production performance and financial outcomes must be confirmed by qualified independent professionals and the selected provider.
Purpose
Hatchery capacity is driven by target fry or post-larvae output, survival through larval rearing, cycle length and the density the larval system can hold. Size the duty here — tank volume, water demand and broodstock requirement — then request comparable quotes on one written specification.

Limitations
- This tool has not yet passed the documented-methodology review. Treat every output as an unverified planning estimate.
- Add separate volume for maturation, algae/live feed, quarantine and nursery — larval tanks are usually 30–50% of total hatchery water volume.
- Biosecurity level (SPF/biosecure vs open) changes CAPEX more than tank volume alone: specify it in the RFQ.
- Water treatment (filtration, UV/ozone, heating, aeration) is sized on the daily water demand shown above.
- Outputs are planning-level estimates for quotation purposes, not a biological or engineering guarantee.
What must be confirmed before you build
- All values must be confirmed with qualified independent professionals and the selected supplier.

Review every value above, correct anything that does not match your site, then transfer the reviewed figures into a structured RFQ. Nothing is sent to any supplier until you approve it. Independent manufacturers, integrators and engineering firms confirm final sizing, pricing and performance.
