Common mistakes in Ghana
Choosing a cage site before measuring depth and current
Cage volume, net depth and mooring design all depend on water depth at low water and current speed. Ordering cages before a site survey is the single most expensive mistake on Volta Lake.
Placing cages too close to existing farms
Short distances between farms concentrate pathogens and share disease events. Biosecurity distance and fallowing should be in the plan before hardware is priced.
