FishMatch Group · Sourcing model

How FishMatch sourcing works

FishMatch Group is a managed aquaculture sourcing service — not an open buyer-to-supplier marketplace. A fish farm, shrimp farm, RAS operator, project developer or investor is never automatically connected to a supplier. Technology structures the project and researches the field; people validate technical fit and approve every introduction.

The controlled introduction chain

Every commercial introduction follows this order. No step is skipped, and nothing on the website can jump ahead of it.

  1. 1

    Buyer / farm / investor

A fish farm, shrimp farm, RAS operator, project developer or investor submits a project request — never a direct message to a supplier.

  2. 2

    FishMatch intake

The request reaches FishMatch Group only. Buyer identity, site details and commercial data stay private to the FishMatch team.

  3. 3

    Project structuring

Species, country, system type, production target, budget band, timeline and site constraints are structured into one comparable brief.

  4. 4

    Technology-supported supplier research

Tools narrow the field by capability, capacity and region. Research produces candidates — it never produces an introduction.

  5. 5

    Human review

A person reviews the brief and the candidate list, flags missing information and removes candidates that do not belong in the project.

  6. 6

    Technical fit validation

Each remaining candidate is validated against the actual scope: flow, oxygen duty, filtration, materials, redundancy, service reach and references.

  7. 7

    David / authorized approval

Only David or an explicitly authorized team member may approve a commercial introduction, with a written fit summary on record.

  8. 8

    Coordinated introduction

The introduction is made manually and coordinated by FishMatch. Nothing on the website triggers it automatically.

Supplier and manufacturer listings are provided for research, transparency and discovery only. FishMatch Group does not provide automatic buyer-supplier introductions. Every aquaculture project request is reviewed manually by David / FishMatch Group, and supplier introductions are made only after internal approval.

What the controlled model gives you

  • No cold outreach: your project is never broadcast to a supplier list.
  • Your identity, site and budget stay confidential until an introduction is approved.
  • Candidates are filtered for real technical fit, not for who pays for placement.
  • Every bid is normalised against the same scope, so prices are actually comparable.
  • A named person is accountable for the shortlist you receive.

What FishMatch is not

  • FishMatch is not a marketplace that connects buyers directly to suppliers on click.
  • There is no automatic or instant supplier-matching engine.
  • Browsing the directory is research; it does not start a procurement process.
  • Selecting any supplier through FishMatch does not guarantee survival, FCR, growth, dissolved oxygen, water quality, disease outcome, production yield, profitability or return.

Supplier selection criteria

How should a buyer compare aquaculture suppliers?

Compare on evidence, not on presentation: delivered projects at a similar scale and climate, engineering support during design, lead time commitments, spare-part and service availability in your region, certification and testing documentation, payment and warranty terms, and willingness to quote against your specification rather than substituting a catalogue package.

What are the warning signs in a supplier quotation?

Treat these as review triggers: no itemised scope, guaranteed biological or financial performance, no named delivery terms or lead time, no spare-parts or service statement, unclear responsibility for installation and commissioning, and equipment sizing that does not reference your water temperature, oxygen demand or biomass targets.

How does FishMatch handle supplier selection?

FishMatch is an independent sourcing layer, not a manufacturer or reseller. Requirements are structured into a single technical RFQ and routed to relevant producers; buyers receive comparable offers without supplier identities being exposed before they choose to proceed. Selection stays with the buyer — FishMatch standardises the comparison basis.
