Consultant FAQ

Consultant questions: FishMatch, RFQs, supplier comparison and project preparation

Direct answers for independent aquaculture consultants working on fish and shrimp farm projects — how FishMatch fits beside your advisory role, what a strong RFQ contains, how proposals are compared, and how the consultant partner program works. FishMatch Group is a supplier-neutral sourcing and RFQ support layer: it does not build, finance, operate or certify projects.

FishMatch, RFQs, supplier comparison and project preparation

The working questions consultants ask before running a client project through the platform.

Can aquaculture consultants use FishMatch for client projects?

Yes. Consultants, advisors and project managers can use FishMatch to structure a client project, prepare an RFQ, research relevant independent manufacturers and organise the returned proposals. The consultant keeps the client relationship and the technical direction of the project.

Does FishMatch replace aquaculture consultants?

No. FishMatch is procurement infrastructure, not a consultancy. Biological design, engineering, permitting, construction and commissioning stay with the consultant, the qualified specialists and the selected independent provider.

Can FishMatch help prepare an aquaculture RFQ?

Yes. FishMatch provides a structured project brief, an RFQ checklist and planning calculators that turn a production target into the technical inputs manufacturers need in order to quote the same scope.

What information should be included in a fish farm RFQ?

Species and product form, annual production target and phasing, system type and volumes, stocking density and harvest weight, water source with analysis, flow and exchange rate, oxygen demand, filtration expectations, available and backup power, monitoring requirements, scope boundaries, guaranteed parameters, spares, commissioning, documentation, Incoterms and delivery window.

What information should be included in a shrimp farm RFQ?

Pond or tank configuration and working volume, stocking density and cycle plan, water source and salinity, exchange or reuse strategy, aeration demand at peak biomass, pumping duty, feeding and monitoring approach, biosecurity measures, available grid power and a backup strategy that covers aeration, plus the commercial scope: spares, commissioning, training, Incoterms and delivery window.

Can FishMatch help consultants compare aquaculture equipment proposals?

Yes. Proposals are compared against one scope list so exclusions, differing assumptions, energy consumption and lifetime cost are visible, rather than only the headline price. FishMatch is supplier-neutral and does not manufacture or sell equipment.

Can FishMatch support RAS project procurement?

Yes. A RAS enquiry can be structured around a written design basis — feed load, TAN load, recirculation rate, oxygen delivery and redundancy — so filtration, pumping, oxygenation and monitoring offers become comparable.

Can consultants remain involved throughout supplier selection?

Yes. Consultants can stay on the project through RFQ preparation, supplier shortlisting, proposal review and clarification rounds. The client relationship stays with the consultant.

Does FishMatch manufacture aquaculture equipment?

No. FishMatch does not manufacture, hold stock or represent a single brand. It is a supplier-neutral project and procurement platform; equipment is supplied by independent manufacturers.

What tools can aquaculture consultants use to prepare a project?

Planning calculators for biomass, stocking density, oxygen demand, aeration sizing, water exchange, FCR and CAPEX; a structured project brief; an RFQ checklist and readiness check; supplier research; and a request flow that routes one scope to matched independent manufacturers.

How can a consultant get more comparable supplier proposals?

Send every manufacturer the same project baseline and the same scope split, state guaranteed parameters and exclusions explicitly, and require a common price breakdown covering equipment, installation, commissioning, spares and energy assumptions.

Consultant partner program

How the partnership itself works — client ownership, costs, confidentiality and supplier screening.

What does the FishMatch Group Consultant Partner Program actually do?

It gives independent aquaculture consultants a private sourcing and RFQ support layer. You keep the client and the technical mandate; FishMatch Group runs confidential supplier outreach, structures the RFQ pack and returns normalised offers. FishMatch Group does not build, finance, operate or certify projects.

Does the consultant keep the client relationship?

Yes. The consultant remains the client-facing advisor. Buyer and supplier identities stay confidential inside the process, and FishMatch Group does not approach a consultant's client independently.

What does it cost a consultant to participate?

There is no participation fee for consultants. FishMatch Group is remunerated on the producer/supplier side, which is stated openly so consultants can disclose it to their clients.

Which project types are in scope?

Fish and shrimp production projects: RAS, ponds, cages, flow-through, biofloc, hatcheries and nurseries, plus the associated equipment, feed-related plant, water treatment, harvest handling, cold chain and processing interfaces.

How quickly can a scoped RFQ be issued?

That depends on how complete the design basis is. Projects arriving with species, tonnage, system type, water data and site conditions move fastest; projects missing those items need a scoping round first. No fixed turnaround is promised.

Are supplier identities shared with the consultant's client?

Not by default. The process is private on both sides until buyer and supplier agree to proceed, which protects the consultant's position and the supplier's pricing.

Can FishMatch Group help with financing?

It can help structure the technical and cost documentation lenders expect and refer projects to third-party contacts. It does not lend, arrange, underwrite, approve or guarantee finance, and no financing outcome is promised.

What is expected from the consultant in return?

A defined project brief, a real client decision-maker, and honest status on permits, land and funding. Speculative enquiries without a client behind them are not a fit for the program.

How are quotations compared?

Offers are normalised against the stated design basis with scope, exclusions, delivery terms and documentation listed side by side. The consultant retains the technical recommendation.

Does FishMatch Group verify or certify suppliers?

It applies commercial screening and reference checks and does not certify, audit or guarantee any supplier, product or performance claim. Independent verification and contractual protection remain the buyer's responsibility.

How does FishMatch Group source suppliers for this requirement?

You submit one structured request. We translate it into a technical RFQ, run it against qualified manufacturers and integrators in the relevant categories, and return normalised quotations you can compare side by side on scope, lead time and total cost of ownership.

Do buyers see supplier names during the sourcing process?

No. Supplier identities stay confidential during discovery and evaluation. You receive anonymised, comparable technical and commercial packages, and introductions happen only after both sides are qualified and agree to proceed.
