Aquaculture RFQ preparation checklist
Use this checklist to gather the details suppliers need to quote accurately. A complete RFQ saves weeks and reduces price variance by 30–50%.
A well-prepared Request for Quotation (RFQ) is the fastest way to get comparable, actionable quotes from aquaculture equipment and service providers. The checklist below covers the five information blocks our concierge team requests before sourcing suppliers.
1. Project scope & species
- Define target species (shrimp, tilapia, salmon, sea bass, trout, etc.)
- Confirm production goal: hatchery, grow-out, broodstock or processing
- State annual output target (tonnes, juveniles, or processing volume)
- Specify whether this is a new build, expansion or retrofit
2. System type & capacity
- Choose system type: RAS, flow-through, pond, cage, biofloc or hybrid
- Provide design capacity in m³, tanks/cages, or hectares
- Indicate expected stocking density and harvest size
- Mention automation level: manual, semi-automated or fully automated
3. Water, energy & climate
- Describe water source: sea, river, borehole, municipal or recirculated
- Provide water quality data if available: salinity, temperature, pH, ammonia
- State available energy: grid, solar, diesel or hybrid
- Share site climate: ambient temperature range, rainfall, humidity, wind load
4. Budget, timeline & financing
- Indicate total project budget or budget range in USD/EUR
- Confirm CAPEX vs OPEX split if known
- State preferred financing: cash, lease, trade finance or project loan
- Provide target timeline: feasibility, procurement, delivery, commissioning
5. Documentation & compliance
- List required certifications: ISO, HACCP, ASC, BAP, national aquaculture permits
- Specify standards the equipment must meet (CE, NSF, ASME, etc.)
- Attach site plan, topographical survey or environmental permit if available
- State language and documentation requirements for manuals and training
