Buyer FAQ: pricing, timelines, confidentiality & project size
Everything buyers ask before creating an account or submitting an RFQ. If your question is not here, the sourcing desk is one message away.

Answers correspond to the questions shown on the buyer portal landing page.
Is the buyer portal really free?
Yes. Creating a buyer account, saving project briefs and submitting an RFQ is free for buyers. FishMatch Group is compensated on the producer side when a project moves to contract, which keeps the portal supplier-neutral for you. There are no subscription fees, placement fees or hidden charges to use the buyer portal.
Who sees my project details?
Only the FishMatch sourcing desk sees your full project details during review. Suppliers never receive your name, site address, email or phone number unless you explicitly approve the shortlist and ask to engage. Until then, they receive an anonymized technical brief so they can prepare a comparable proposal without identifying you.
What size of project is this for?
FishMatch Group supports commercial fish and shrimp projects, typically from USD 250,000 upwards. This includes RAS, pond farms, cages, hatcheries, feed mills, processing lines, cold chain, water treatment, oxygenation and turnkey EPC. Smaller pilot requests are welcome, but most suppliers in our network focus on commercial-scale infrastructure and equipment packages.
How long until I receive proposals?
After you submit your RFQ, David reviews the brief and fixes any gaps before suppliers are invited. Screened suppliers are usually invited within a few business days. Comparable proposals typically arrive in your portal within two to four weeks, depending on scope complexity, regional supplier availability and the level of engineering detail required.
Do I need a complete engineering specification before I submit an RFQ?
No. The portal is designed for early-stage budgets as well as detailed specifications. You can start with production target, species, country, water source, power situation and approximate budget. Our team helps you structure and complete the brief before any supplier sees it.
Can I keep my buyer identity confidential throughout the sourcing process?
Yes. Buyer identity can remain confidential until you choose to engage a shortlisted offer. Even then, disclosure happens only with your approval. Project type, capacity and technical parameters are shared as needed for quoting, but identifying details are filtered out.
How are suppliers selected for my project?
Suppliers are matched by category, species, region, budget tier, delivery complexity and track record. Only qualified suppliers with relevant aquaculture experience are invited. You can request a shortlist of one to three qualified bidders, and no supplier can pay for placement.
What happens after I receive proposals?
Proposals appear in your private portal with key terms normalized for comparison. You can ask follow-up questions, request clarifications or choose to engage one or more shortlisted suppliers. The sourcing desk supports you through technical and commercial clarification, but the final selection is yours.
Which regions and countries do you cover?
We source globally. Active corridors include Norway, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Japan, Chile, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico and the United States. Multi-region and government-backed projects are welcome.
How much does a commercial RAS system cost?
Planning-level RAS system cost usually falls between USD 8,000 and USD 25,000 per tonne of annual capacity, driven by species, stocking density, water treatment and filtration, oxygenation, building envelope, heating or chilling and automation. Use the RAS sizing and pump sizing calculators for a preliminary range, then submit an RFQ so screened manufacturers price your actual specification instead of a generic benchmark.
What is a fish farm RFQ and what should it include?
A fish farm RFQ is a structured request for quotation that lets manufacturers price the same technical basis. It should include species, target annual production in tonnes, system type (RAS, pond, cage, hatchery), country and site status, water source and quality, available power, scope of supply, budget band and target timeline. The FishMatch portal collects exactly these fields, and the sourcing desk fixes gaps before any supplier sees the brief.
How much does shrimp farm equipment cost?
Shrimp farm equipment cost depends on the intensification level: pond liners, paddlewheel or diffused aeration, pumping, biosecurity, water treatment and automatic feeders. Semi-intensive vannamei ponds cost far less per hectare than covered intensive or biofloc systems. The shrimp calculators give an order-of-magnitude figure; an RFQ returns real manufacturer pricing for your climate and pond layout.
What is the cost per tonne of a recirculating aquaculture system?
Cost per tonne falls as capacity rises, because filtration, oxygenation and building costs scale better than linearly. A 200-tonne per year RAS typically carries a higher cost per tonne than a 2,000-tonne facility on the same species. Model your own case in the RAS sizing calculator, then request quotations so the CAPEX per tonne reflects real supplier scope rather than a published average.
Still have questions?
The fastest way to get clarity is to submit a brief. A sourcing manager will review it and reply with next steps — usually within one business day.

How does FishMatch Group source suppliers for this requirement?
You submit one structured request. We translate it into a technical RFQ, run it against qualified manufacturers and integrators in the relevant categories, and return normalised quotations you can compare side by side on scope, lead time and total cost of ownership.
Do buyers see supplier names during the sourcing process?
No. Supplier identities stay confidential during discovery and evaluation. You receive anonymised, comparable technical and commercial packages, and introductions happen only after both sides are qualified and agree to proceed.
